Gordon Hawthorne

Gordon Hawthorne is a Managing Director and Practice Leader of Diversified Search Ray & Berndtson in Philadelphia specializing in senior executive searches with clients in the Health Care industry. He has over 30 years of executive leadership and consulting experience with complex health care organizations. His recent consulting work has focused on assisting Boards, executives, and physician leaders improve performance by aligning organizational capabilities with their operational and clinical strategies as well as designing innovative executive total reward plans, performance management systems, and succession/talent management processes.

Gordon has led extensive client work in creating strategic clarity; designing executive roles and teams; and assessing, developing, and successfully deploying senior leaders in leading integrated health systems, faith-based health systems, academic medical centers, and multi-specialty physician practices.

Prior to joining Diversified Search, he served as Managing Director- Healthcare for Hay Group, Inc. a global professional service firm where he led the development of client business solutions and achieved significant new revenue growth. In this role, he led a national team of professionals dedicated to assessing, organizing, coaching and rewarding top leadership in health care. Mr. Hawthorne has over 20 years of health care strategic and operational leadership experience including serving as a Senior Executive of a leading integrated delivery system, general counsel to a multi-state Catholic health care system and CEO of a start- up medical service organization.

He holds a BSc in Business and Marketing and a Masters in Health Care Administration from Trinity University. He holds a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Arkansas and is a licensed attorney and qualified lawyer mediator. Gordon is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, forums and retreats and serves as an executive coach and trusted advisor to CEOs and Boards of a number of leading health care organizations. He has served as a member of the House of Delegates and Regional Policy Board of the American Hospital Association, as member of multiple regional and national health care associations and task forces.
